Boating death sparks call for insurance changes

An incident at one of the city's newest ferries Thursday afternoon left one man hospitalized with a broken nose, black eyes, and a broken leg and left other passengers in a pool of blood — two days after they boarded.

Police were called around 10:30 p.m. after two men saw a man fall and was transported to the hospital with a broken nose and a fractured leg. Police later found a man in the water and brought him to the hospital.

No arrest has been made in the shooting.

No one has been charged.

The ferry, which ferries passengers from Boston's Point Beach to Charlestown, had a safety inspection Wednesday and was expected to make its return Thursday, the Port Authority of Boston and Portsmouth Authority said.

Two other ferries have come under fire for similar incidents this month, when two passengers were struck by vehicles while boarding.
